Isaiah 65:12-22 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
12 I will destine you for the sword,1 and you will all bend down for the slaughter;2 for I called but you did not answer,3 I spoke but you did not listen.4 You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me."5 13 Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "My servants will eat,6 but you will go hungry;7 my servants will drink,8 but you will go thirsty;9 my servants will rejoice,10 but you will be put to shame.11 14 My servants will sing12 out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out13 from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit. 15 You will leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse;14 the Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.15 16 Whoever invokes a blessing16 in the land will do so by the God of truth;17 he who takes an oath in the land will swear18 by the God of truth. For the past troubles19 will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.

New Heavens and a New Earth

17 "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth.20 The former things will not be remembered,21 nor will they come to mind. 18 But be glad and rejoice22 forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem23 to be a delight and its people a joy. 19 I will rejoice24 over Jerusalem and take delight25 in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying26 will be heard in it no more. 20 "Never again will there be in it an infant27 who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years;28 he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reacha a hundred will be considered accursed. 21 They will build houses29 and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.30 22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them,31 or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree,32 so will be the days33 of my people; my chosen34 ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.
