Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom1 for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,2 but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan--
The people walking in darkness3 have seen a great light;4 on those living in the land of the shadow of deatha5 a light has dawned.63

Of the increase of his government25 and peace26 there will be no end.27 He will reign28 on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice29 and righteousness30 from that time on and forever.31 The zeal32 of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
The Lord has sent a message33 against Jacob; it will fall on Israel.
All the people will know it-- Ephraim34 and the inhabitants of Samaria35-- who say with pride and arrogance36 of heart,
"The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone;37 the fig38 trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.39"
