But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God,1 the eternal King.2 When he is angry,3 the earth trembles;4 the nations cannot endure his wrath.511
"Tell them this: 'These gods, who did not make the heavens and the earth, will perish6 from the earth and from under the heavens.' "a12
But God made7 the earth8 by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom9 and stretched out the heavens10 by his understanding.
When he thunders,11 the waters in the heavens roar; he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning12 with the rain13 and brings out the wind from his storehouses.1414
Everyone is senseless and without knowledge; every goldsmith is shamed15 by his idols. His images are a fraud;16 they have no breath in them.
They are worthless,17 the objects of mockery; when their judgment comes, they will perish.
He who is the Portion18 of Jacob is not like these, for he is the Maker of all things,19 including Israel, the tribe of his inheritance20-- the LORD Almighty is his name.21
Gather up your belongings22 to leave the land, you who live under siege.
For this is what the LORD says: "At this time I will hurl23 out those who live in this land; I will bring distress24 on them so that they may be captured."
Woe to me because of my injury! My wound25 is incurable! Yet I said to myself, "This is my sickness, and I must endure26 it."
My tent27 is destroyed; all its ropes are snapped. My sons are gone from me and are no more;28 no one is left now to pitch my tent or to set up my shelter.
