People will live1 together in Judah and all its towns--farmers and those who move about with their flocks.225
I will refresh the weary3 and satisfy the faint."426
At this I awoke5 and looked around. My sleep had been pleasant to me.
"The days are coming,"6 declares the LORD, "when I will plant7 the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the offspring of men and of animals.
Just as I watched8 over them to uproot9 and tear down, and to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster,10 so I will watch over them to build and to plant,"11 declares the LORD.
"In those days people will no longer say, 'The fathers12 have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.'1330
Instead, everyone will die for his own sin;14 whoever eats sour grapes--his own teeth will be set on edge.
"The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant15 with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
It will not be like the covenant16 I made with their forefathers17 when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt,18 because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband19 toa them,b " declares the LORD.
"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds20 and write it on their hearts.21 I will be their God, and they will be my people.2234
No longer will a man teach23 his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know24 me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive25 their wickedness and will remember their sins26 no more."
