This is what the LORD says: "Sing6 with joy for Jacob; shout for the foremost7 of the nations. Make your praises heard, and say, 'O LORD, save8 your people, the remnant9 of Israel.'
See, I will bring them from the land of the north10 and gather11 them from the ends of the earth. Among them will be the blind12 and the lame,13 expectant mothers and women in labor; a great throng will return.
They will come with weeping;14 they will pray as I bring them back. I will lead15 them beside streams of water16 on a level17 path where they will not stumble, because I am Israel's father,18 and Ephraim is my firstborn son.
"Hear the word of the LORD, O nations; proclaim it in distant coastlands:19 'He who scattered20 Israel will gather21 them and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.'2211
For the LORD will ransom Jacob and redeem23 them from the hand of those stronger24 than they.
They will come and shout for joy25 on the heights26 of Zion; they will rejoice in the bounty27 of the LORD-- the grain, the new wine and the oil,28 the young of the flocks29 and herds. They will be like a well-watered garden,30 and they will sorrow31 no more.
Then maidens will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning32 into gladness; I will give them comfort33 and joy34 instead of sorrow.
I will satisfy35 the priests36 with abundance, and my people will be filled with my bounty,37" declares the LORD.
This is what the LORD says: "A voice is heard in Ramah,38 mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted,39 because her children are no more."40
