he tells them what they have done-- that they have sinned arrogantly.1

He makes them listen2 to correction3 and commands them to repent of their evil.4

If they obey and serve him,5 they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity6 and their years in contentment.7

But if they do not listen, they will perish by the sworda8 and die without knowledge.9

"The godless in heart10 harbor resentment;11 even when he fetters them, they do not cry for help.12

They die in their youth,13 among male prostitutes of the shrines.14

But those who suffer15 he delivers in their suffering;16 he speaks17 to them in their affliction.18

"He is wooing19 you from the jaws of distress to a spacious place20 free from restriction,21 to the comfort of your table22 laden with choice food.23
17
But now you are laden with the judgment due the wicked;24 judgment and justice have taken hold of you.25

Be careful that no one entices you by riches; do not let a large bribe26 turn you aside.27
19
Would your wealth28 or even all your mighty efforts sustain you so you would not be in distress?
