The Word became flesh1 and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory,2 the glory of the One and Only,a who came from the Father, full of grace3 and truth.4
15
John testifies5 concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' "6
16
From the fullness7 of his grace8 we have all received one blessing after another.
17
For the law was given through Moses;9 grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.10
18
No one has ever seen God,11 but God the One and Only,b c12 who is at the Father's side, has made him known.
