The true light1 that gives light to every man2 was coming into the world.a
10
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him,3 the world did not recognize him.
11
He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.4
12
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed5 in his name,6 he gave the right to become children of God7--
13
children born not of natural descent,b nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.8
14
The Word became flesh9 and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory,10 the glory of the One and Only,c who came from the Father, full of grace11 and truth.12
