Now Adoni-Zedek1 king of Jerusalem2 heard that Joshua had taken Ai3 and totally destroyed4 it, doing to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king, and that the people of Gibeon5 had made a treaty of peace6 with Israel and were living near them.
