2 Corinthians 1:2 Meaning and Commentary

2 Corinthians 1:2

Grace be to you
This salutation is the same with that in the former epistle, and is common to all his epistles; (See Gill on Romans 1:7).

2 Corinthians 1:2 In-Context

1 Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia:
2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
5 For in the same manner that the sufferings of the Christ abound in us, so also our consolation abounds by Christ.
