13
They are wild waves of the sea,1 foaming up their shame;2 wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.314
Enoch,4 the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: "See, the Lord is coming5 with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones615
to judge7 everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him."816
These men are grumblers9 and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires;10 they boast11 about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.
17
But, dear friends, remember what the apostles12 of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.1318
They said to you, "In the last times14 there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires."1519
These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.1620
But you, dear friends, build yourselves up17 in your most holy faith18 and pray in the Holy Spirit.1921
Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait20 for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.2122
Be merciful to those who doubt;
23
snatch others from the fire and save them;22 to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.23
