The elders which are amongyou I exhort , who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed :
2Feed the flock of God which is amongyou, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, butwillingly;not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;3Neitheras being lords overa God's heritage, butbeingensamples to the flock.4And when the chief Shepherd shall appear , ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.5Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder.Yea,all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility:forGodresisteth the proud, andgivethgrace to the humble.6
Humble yourselvesthereforeunder the mightyhand of God,that he may exaltyouin due time:7Castingallyourcareuponhim;forhecarethforyou.8
Be sober , be vigilant ; becauseyouradversary the devil,as a roaringlion, walketh about , seekingwhom he may devour :
9Whomresiststedfast in the faith, knowing that the sameafflictions are accomplished in yourbrethren that are in the world.10But the God of allgrace, who hath calledusuntohiseternalglorybyChristJesus, after that ye have suffered a while , makeyouperfect , stablish , strengthen , settle you.
To him be gloryanddominionforever and ever.Amen.12BySilvanus, a faithfulbrother unto you,as I suppose , I have writtenbriefly , exhorting , andtestifying that thisis the truegrace of Godwhereinyestand .
