27Thisman was takenof the Jews, andshould have been killedofthem: then came Iwith an army, and rescuedhim, having understoodthat he was a Roman.28Andwhen I would have known the causewhereforetheyaccusedhim, I broughthimforthintotheircouncil:29Whom I perceived to be accusedofquestions of theirlaw, but to havenothing laid to his chargeworthy of deathor of bonds.30And when it was toldme how that the Jews laid waitfor the man, I sentstraightwaytothee, and gave commandment to his accusersalso to saybeforethee what they had againsthim.Farewell .
31Thenthesoldiers,as it was commandedthem, tookPaul, and brought him bynighttoAntipatris.32On the morrow they left the horsemen to gowithhim, and returnedto the castle:33Who, when they cametoCaesarea, anddelivered the epistle to the governor, presentedPaulalso before him.34And when the governor had read the letter, he askedofwhatprovince he was .
