16And when Paul'ssister'ssonheard of their lying in wait, he wentandenteredinto the castle, and toldPaul.17ThenPaulcalledone of the centurions unto him, and said , Bringthis young manunto the chief captain:for he hath a certain thing to tellhim.18Sohetookhim, and brought him to the chief captain,andsaid , Paul the prisonercalledme unto him, and prayed me to bringthis young man untothee, who hathsomething to say unto thee.19Then the chief captaintookhim by the hand,and went with him asideprivately , and asked him, Whatisthat thou hast to tellme?20And he said , The Jews have agreed to desiretheethat thou wouldest bring downPaul to morrowinto the council,as though they wouldenquiresomewhatofhim more perfectly.21Butdonotthouyield unto them:for there lie in wait forhimofthem more thanfortymen,which have boundthemselves with an oath , that they willneithereatnordrinktillthey have killedhim:andnow are theyready, looking for a promisefromthee.22Sothe chief captain then let the young mandepart , and charged him, See thou tell no manthat thou hast shewed these thingstome.23And he called untohimtwocenturions,saying , Make ready two hundredsoldierstogotoCaesarea,andhorsemen threescore and ten,andspearmen two hundred,at the thirdhour of the night;24Andprovide them beasts,that they may setPaulon , and bring him safeuntoFelix the governor.25
And he wrote a letterafterthismanner:26ClaudiusLysias unto the most excellentgovernorFelix sendeth greeting .
