1Beyethereforefollowers of God,asdearchildren;2Andwalkinlove,asChristalso hath lovedus, and hath givenhimselfforus an offeringand a sacrifice to Godfor a sweetsmellingsavour.3Butfornication,andalluncleanness,orcovetousness, let it not be oncenamedamongyou,asbecomethsaints;4Neitherfilthiness,nor foolish talking, norjesting, whicharenotconvenient : butrather giving of thanks.5Forthis ye know , thatnowhoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, whois an idolater, hath any inheritancein the kingdom of Christand of God.6Let no mandeceiveyou with vainwords:forbecause of these thingscometh the wrath of Godupon the children of disobedience.a7Benotyethereforepartakers with them.8For ye weresometimesdarkness, butnow are ye lightin the Lord:walkaschildren of light:9
(For the fruit of the Spirit is inallgoodnessandrighteousnessand truth;)
10Provingwhatisacceptable unto the Lord.11Andhavenofellowship with the unfruitfulworks of darkness, butratherreprove them.
12For it is a shameeven to speak of those things which are doneofthem in secret.13But all things that are reprovedb are made manifestby the light:forwhatsoever doth make manifestislight.14Wherefore he saith , Awake thou that sleepest , andarisefrom the dead, andChrist shall givetheelight .
15Seethenthat ye walkcircumspectly,notasfools,butaswise,16Redeeming the time, because the daysareevil.17Whereforebeyenotunwise,butunderstandingwhat the will of the Lord is.
18Andbenotdrunk with wine, whereinisexcess;but be filledwith the Spirit;19Speaking to yourselves in psalmsandhymnsandspiritualsongs, singingand making melodyinyourheart to the Lord;20
Giving thanksalwaysfor all things unto Godand the Fatherin the name of ourLordJesusChrist;21
Submitting yourselves one to anotherin the fear of God.22Wives, submit yourselves unto your ownhusbands,as unto the Lord.23For the husbandis the head of the wife, evenasChrist is the head of the church:andheis the saviour of the body.24Thereforeas the church is subject unto Christ, solet the wives be to their ownhusbandsin every thing.25Husbands,loveyourwives, even asChristalsoloved the church,andgavehimselfforit;26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of waterby the word,27That he might presentit to himself a gloriouschurch, nothavingspot, orwrinkle, orany such thing;butthat it should beholyand without blemish.28Sooughtmen to lovetheirwivesas their ownbodies. He that lovethhiswifelovethhimself.29For no man ever yethated his ownflesh;butnourishethandcherishethit, even astheLord the church:30For we aremembers of hisbody,ofhisflesh,andofhisbones.31For this causeshall a manleavehisfatherandmother, and shall be joineduntohiswife, and they two shall beoneflesh.32Thisis a greatmystery:butIspeakconcerningChristandthechurch.33Neverthelesslet every oneofyou in particularsolovehiswife even ashimself;and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
