4WhenJesusheard that, he said , Thissicknessisnotuntodeath,butfor the glory of God,that the Son of God might be glorifiedthereby .5NowJesuslovedMartha,andhersister,andLazarus.6When he had heardthereforethat he was sick , he abodetwodaysstillin the same placewhere he was .
7Thenafterthat saith he to his disciples,Let us gointoJudaeaagain.8
His disciplessay unto him,Master, the Jews of latesought to stonethee;and goest thouthitheragain?9Jesusanswered , Are therenottwelvehours in the day?If any manwalkin the day, he stumblethnot,because he seeth the light of thisworld.10Butif a manwalkin the night, he stumbleth , because there isnolightinhim.11
These thingssaidhe:andafterthat he saith unto them,OurfriendLazarussleepeth ; but I go , that I may awakehim out of sleep .
12Thensaidhisdisciples,Lord,if he sleep , he shall do well .
13HowbeitJesusspakeofhisdeath:buttheythoughtthat he had spokenof taking of rest in sleep.14ThensaidJesus unto themplainly,Lazarus is dead .
