And the chief priestsand the scribes the same*hoursought to layhandsonhim;and they feared the people:for they perceivedthat he had spokenthisparableagainstthem.

And they watched him, and sent forthspies, which should feign*themselves just men,that they might take hold of hiswords, that so they might deliverhim unto the powerandauthority of the governor.

And they askedhim,saying, Master, we knowthat thou sayestandteachestrightly*, neither acceptest thou the person of any, butteachest the way of Godtruly*:[a]

Is it lawful for us to givetribute unto Caesar,orno?

But he perceivedtheircraftiness, and saiduntothem,Why tempt yeme?

Shewme a penny.Whoseimageandsuperscription hath it? They answeredandsaid, Caesar's.

And he said unto them,Rendertherefore unto Caesar the things which beCaesar's,and unto God the things which beGod's.

Thencame to him certain of the Sadducees,whichdeny that there isanyresurrection; and they askedhim,

Saying, Master,Moseswrote unto us,If any man'sbrotherdie, having a wife,andhedie without children,thathisbrother should take his wife,and raise upseed unto hisbrother.

There werethereforesevenbrethren:and the firsttook a wife, and died without children.
