Then Peter said unto them, Repent , and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
And he said , Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken ; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said , See , here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized ?
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company , or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
And Cornelius said , Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold , a man stood before me in bright clothing,
And said , Cornelius, thy prayer is heard , and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.
And brought them out, and said , Sirs, what must I do to be saved ?
But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans , and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out .
Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said , Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said , Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee ? Who said , Canst thou speak Greek?
(And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith ,)
Then the chief captain came , and said unto him, Tell me , art thou a Roman ? He said , Yea.
And the chief captain answered , With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said , But I was free born .
Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written , Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.
Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said , Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him.
So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said , Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee.
I will hear thee, said he , when thine accusers are also come . And he commanded him to be kept in Herod's judgment hall.
Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.
Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow , said he, thou shalt hear him.
And Festus said , King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself :
And as he thus spake for himself , Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself ; much learning doth make thee mad .
But he said , I am not mad , most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty , if he had not appealed unto Caesar.
