1Paul, a prisoner of JesusChrist,andTimothy our brother, unto Philemonour dearly beloved,andfellowlabourer,2And to our belovedApphia,andArchippusourfellowsoldier,and to the churchinthyhouse:3Grace to you,andpeace,fromGodourFatherand the LordJesusChrist.4
I thankmyGod,makingmention of theealwaysinmyprayers,5Hearing of thyloveandfaith,which thou hasttoward the LordJesus,andtowardallsaints;6That the communication of thyfaith may becomeeffectualby the acknowledging of every good thingwhich is inyouinChristJesus.7For we havegreatjoyandconsolationinthylove,because the bowels of the saints are refreshedbythee,brother.8Wherefore, though I might bemuchboldinChrist to enjointhee that which is convenient ,
Yet forlove's sake Iratherbeseech thee, being such an oneasPaul the aged,andnowalso a prisoner of JesusChrist.10
I beseechtheeformysonOnesimus,whom I have begotteninmybonds:11Which in time pastwas to theeunprofitable,butnowprofitable to theeand to me:12Whom I have sent again : thouthereforereceivehim, that is , mine ownbowels:13WhomIwould have retainedwithme,that in thystead he might have ministered unto mein the bonds of the gospel:14Butwithoutthymindwould I donothing;thatthybenefitshouldnotbeas it were ofnecessity,butwillingly .
15Forperhapshethereforedepartedfor a season,that thou shouldest receivehim for ever;16
Not nowas a servant,butabove a servant, a brotherbeloved,specially to me,but how muchmore unto thee,bothin the flesh,andin the Lord?17If thou countmetherefore a partner,receivehimasmyself.18Ifhe hath wrongedthee,oroweth thee ought,putthaton mine account;19IPaul have written it with mine ownhand,I will repay it: albeit I donotsay to theehow thou owest unto meeven thine own selfbesides .
20Yea,brother,letme have joy of theein the Lord:refreshmybowelsin the Lord.21
Having confidence in thyobedience I wrote unto thee,knowingthat thou wiltalsodo more thanIsay .
22Butwithalpreparemealso a lodging:for I trustthatthroughyourprayers I shall be given unto you.23
