To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle,shewingallmeeknessuntoallmen.3For we ourselvesalsoweresometimesfoolish,disobedient,deceived , servingdiverslustsandpleasures,livinginmaliceandenvy,hateful, and hating one another.4Butafter that the kindnessandlovea of GodourSaviour toward manappeared ,
5Notbyworksofrighteousnesswhichwe have done , but according tohismercy he savedus,by the washing of regeneration,andrenewing of the HolyGhost;6Which he shedonusabundantlybthroughJesusChristourSaviour;7That being justified byhisgrace, we should be madeheirs according to the hope of eternallife.8
This is a faithfulsaying,and these thingsIwill that thou affirm constantly , that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintaingoodworks. These thingsaregoodandprofitable unto men.9Butavoidfoolishquestions,andgenealogies,andcontentions,and strivings about the law;for they areunprofitableandvain.
