He has broken my teeth with gravel;1 he has trampled me in the dust.217
I have been deprived of peace; I have forgotten what prosperity is.
So I say, "My splendor is gone and all that I had hoped from the LORD."319
I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness4 and the gall.520
I well remember them, and my soul is downcast6 within me.721
Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:
Because of the LORD's great love8 we are not consumed,9 for his compassions never fail.1023
They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.1124
I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion;12 therefore I will wait for him."
The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;1326
it is good to wait quietly14 for the salvation of the LORD.15
