The elders are gone from the city gate; the young men have stopped their music.115
Joy is gone from our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning.216
The crown3 has fallen from our head.4 Woe to us, for we have sinned!517
Because of this our hearts6 are faint,7 because of these things our eyes8 grow dim918
for Mount Zion,10 which lies desolate,11 with jackals prowling over it.
You, O LORD, reign forever;12 your throne endures13 from generation to generation.
Why do you always forget us?14 Why do you forsake15 us so long?
Restore16 us to yourself, O LORD, that we may return; renew our days as of old
unless you have utterly rejected us17 and are angry with us beyond measure.18
