and he took it and ate it in their presence.144
He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you:2 Everything must be fulfilled3 that is written about me in the Law of Moses,4 the Prophets5 and the Psalms."645
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer7 and rise from the dead on the third day,847and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name9 to all nations,10 beginning at Jerusalem.1148You are witnesses12 of these things.49I am going to send you what my Father has promised;13 but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany,14 he lifted up his hands and blessed them.
While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.1552
Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
And they stayed continually at the temple,16 praising God.
