And he will be their peace.1 When the Assyrian invades2 our land and marches through our fortresses, we will raise against him seven shepherds, even eight leaders of men.36
They will rulea the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod4 with drawn sword.b5 He will deliver us from the Assyrian when he invades our land and marches into our borders.67
The remnant7 of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples like dew8 from the LORD, like showers on the grass,9 which do not wait for man or linger for mankind.
The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest,10 like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which mauls and mangles11 as it goes, and no one can rescue.129
Your hand will be lifted up13 in triumph over your enemies, and all your foes will be destroyed.
"In that day," declares the LORD, "I will destroy your horses from among you and demolish your chariots.1411
I will destroy the cities15 of your land and tear down all your strongholds.1612
I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.1713
I will destroy your carved images18 and your sacred stones from among you;19 you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands.2014
I will uproot from among you your Asherah polesc21 and demolish your cities.
I will take vengeance22 in anger and wrath upon the nations that have not obeyed me."
