Then my enemy will see it and will be covered with shame,1 she who said to me, "Where is the LORD your God?"2 My eyes will see her downfall;3 even now she will be trampled4 underfoot like mire in the streets.
The day for building your walls5 will come, the day for extending your boundaries.
In that day people will come to you from Assyria6 and the cities of Egypt, even from Egypt to the Euphrates and from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain.713
The earth will become desolate because of its inhabitants, as the result of their deeds.8
Shepherd9 your people with your staff,10 the flock of your inheritance, which lives by itself in a forest, in fertile pasturelands.a11 Let them feed in Bashan12 and Gilead13 as in days long ago.1415
"As in the days when you came out of Egypt, I will show them my wonders.15"
Nations will see and be ashamed,16 deprived of all their power. They will lay their hands on their mouths17 and their ears will become deaf.
They will lick dust18 like a snake, like creatures that crawl on the ground. They will come trembling19 out of their dens; they will turn in fear20 to the LORD our God and will be afraid of you.
Who is a God21 like you, who pardons sin22 and forgives23 the transgression of the remnant24 of his inheritance?25 You do not stay angry26 forever but delight to show mercy.2719
You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities28 into the depths of the sea.2920
You will be true to Jacob, and show mercy to Abraham,30 as you pledged on oath to our fathers31 in days long ago.32
