In that day people will come to you from Assyria1 and the cities of Egypt, even from Egypt to the Euphrates and from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain.213
The earth will become desolate because of its inhabitants, as the result of their deeds.3
Shepherd4 your people with your staff,5 the flock of your inheritance, which lives by itself in a forest, in fertile pasturelands.a6 Let them feed in Bashan7 and Gilead8 as in days long ago.915
"As in the days when you came out of Egypt, I will show them my wonders.10"
Nations will see and be ashamed,11 deprived of all their power. They will lay their hands on their mouths12 and their ears will become deaf.
They will lick dust13 like a snake, like creatures that crawl on the ground. They will come trembling14 out of their dens; they will turn in fear15 to the LORD our God and will be afraid of you.
Who is a God16 like you, who pardons sin17 and forgives18 the transgression of the remnant19 of his inheritance?20 You do not stay angry21 forever but delight to show mercy.2219
You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities23 into the depths of the sea.2420
You will be true to Jacob, and show mercy to Abraham,25 as you pledged on oath to our fathers26 in days long ago.27
