Hear,1 O peoples, all of you,2 listen, O earth3 and all who are in it, that the Sovereign LORD may witness4 against you, the Lord from his holy temple.5
Look! The LORD is coming from his dwelling6 place; he comes down7 and treads the high places of the earth.8
The mountains melt9 beneath him10 and the valleys split apart,11 like wax before the fire, like water rushing down a slope.
All this is because of Jacob's transgression, because of the sins of the house of Israel. What is Jacob's transgression? Is it not Samaria?12 What is Judah's high place? Is it not Jerusalem?
"Therefore I will make Samaria a heap of rubble, a place for planting vineyards.13 I will pour her stones14 into the valley and lay bare her foundations.15
All her idols16 will be broken to pieces;17 all her temple gifts will be burned with fire; I will destroy all her images.18 Since she gathered her gifts from the wages of prostitutes,19 as the wages of prostitutes they will again be used."
