15Moreover we are evenfound to be falsewitnesses of God, because we testifiedaagainstGod that He 1raisedbChrist, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.
16
For if the dead are not raised, not evenChrist has been raised ;
17
and ifChrist has not been raised, your faith is worthless ; 2you are still in your sins.
18Thenthosealso who 3have fallenasleep in Christ have perished.
19If we have hoped in Christ in thislifeonly, we are 4of allmenmost to be pitied.
The Order of Resurrection
20
But nowChrist5has been raised from the dead, the 6firstfruits of those who 7are asleep.
21
For since8by a man came death, by a manalso came the resurrection of the dead.
22
For 9as in Adamalldie, soalso in cChristall will be madealive.
23
But each in his ownorder : Christ10the firstfruits, after that 11thosewho are Christ's at 12His coming,
24then comes the end, when He hands over 13the kingdom to the 14God and Father, when He has abolished15allrule and allauthority and power.
25
For He mustreign16until He has putall His enemiesunder His feet.
26
The lastenemy that will be 17abolished is death.
27
For 18HE HAS PUTALLTHINGS IN SUBJECTIONUNDER HIS FEET. But when He says, "19Allthings are put in subjection," it is evident that He is excepted who putallthings in subjection to Him.
28When20allthings are subjected to Him, then the SonHimselfalso will be subjected to the One who subjectedallthings to Him, so that 21God may be all in all.
29Otherwise, what will thosedo who are baptized for the dead ? If the dead are not raised at all, whythen are they baptized for them?
30Why are we also22in dangereveryhour ?
31
I affirm, brethren, by the boasting in you which I have in ChristJesus our Lord, 23I diedaily .
32Ifdfrom humanmotives I 24fought with wildbeasts at 25Ephesus, what does it profit me? If the dead are not raised, 26LET US EAT AND DRINK, FOR TOMORROW WE DIE.
3327Do not be deceived : "Badcompanycorruptsgoodmorals."
3428Becomesober-mindedeas you ought, and stopsinning ; for somehave29noknowledge of God. 30I speak this to your shame.
35
But 31someone will say, "How are 32the deadraised ? And with whatkind of body do they come ?"
3633You fool ! That which you 34sow does not come to lifeunless it dies ;
37
and that which you sow, you do not sow the body which is to be, but a baregrain, perhaps of wheator of fsomethingelse.
38
But Godgives it a bodyjust as He wished, and 35to each of the seeds a body of its own.
39Allflesh is not the sameflesh, but there is one flesh of men, and anotherflesh of beasts, and anotherflesh of birds, and another of fish.
40
There are alsoheavenlybodies and earthlybodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and the glory of the earthly is another.
41
There is oneglory of the sun, and anotherglory of the moon, and anotherglory of the stars ; for stardiffers from star in glory.
4236Soalso is the resurrection of the dead. It is sowng37a perishable body, it is raisedh38an imperishable body;
43
it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in 39glory ; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power ;
44
it is sown a 40naturalbody, it is raised a 41spiritualbody. If there is a naturalbody, there is also a spiritual body.
45Soalso it is written, "The first42MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVINGSOUL." The 43lastAdam became a 44life-givingspirit.
46However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural ; then the spiritual.
47
The firstman is 45from the earth, i46earthy ; the secondman is from heaven.
48
As is the earthy, soalso are those who are earthy ; and as is the heavenly, 47soalso are those who are heavenly.
49Just as we have 48borne the image of the earthy, jwe 49will alsobear the image of the heavenly.
The Mystery of Resurrection
50Now I saythis, brethren, that 50flesh and bloodcannot51inherit the kingdom of God ; nor does kthe perishableinheritl52the imperishable.
51Behold, I tell you a 53mystery ; we will not allsleep, but we will all be 54changed,
52
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the lasttrumpet ; for 55the trumpet will sound, and 56the dead will be raisedmimperishable, and 57we will be changed.
53
For thisnperishablemustput on o58the imperishable, and this59mortal must put on immortality.
54
But whenthispperishable will have put on qthe imperishable, and thismortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "60DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory.
55
"61O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY ? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING ?"
