201Brethren, 2do not be children in your thinking ; yet in evil3be infants, but in your thinking be mature.
In 4the Law it is written, "5BY MEN OF STRANGETONGUES AND BY THE LIPS OF STRANGERS I WILL SPEAK TO THISPEOPLE, AND EVENSO THEY WILL NOT LISTEN TO ME," says the Lord.
22Sothentongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers ; but 6prophecy is for a sign, not to unbelievers but to those who believe.
23Thereforeif the wholechurchassemblestogether and allspeak in tongues, and aungiftedmenorunbelieversenter, will they not say that 7you are mad ?
But ifall8prophesy, and an unbelieveror an bungiftedmanenters, he is 9convicted by all, he is called to account by all ;
2510the secrets of his heart are disclosed ; and so he will 11fall on his face and worshipGod, 12declaring that God is certainlyamong you.
2613What is the outcome then, 14brethren ? When you assemble, 15eachonehas a 16psalm, has a 17teaching, has a 18revelation, has a 19tongue, has an 20interpretation. Let 21allthings be done for edification.
27Ifanyonespeaks in a 22tongue, it should be by twoor at the mostthree, and each in turn, and one must 23interpret ;
but if there is nointerpreter, he must keepsilent in the church ; and let him speak to himself and to God.
Let twoorthree24prophetsspeak, and let the others25passjudgment.
But if a revelation is made to another who is seated, the first one must keepsilent.
For you canallprophesyone by one , so that all may learn and all may be exhorted ;
and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets ;
for God is not a God of 26confusion but of cpeace, as in 27all the churches of the 28saints.
The women are to 29keepsilent in the churches ; for they are not permitted to speak, but 30are to subject themselves, just as 31the Lawalsosays.
35If they desire to learnanything, let them ask their ownhusbands at home ; for it is dimproper for a woman to speak in church.
36eWas it from you that the word of God first wentforth ? Or has it come to you only ?
3732Ifanyonethinks he is a prophetor33spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you 34are the Lord'scommandment.
But ifanyone does not recognize this, he fis not recognized.
39Therefore, my brethren, 35desireearnestly to 36prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues.
But 37allthings must be doneproperly and in an orderlymanner.
