45Soalso it is written, "The first1MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVINGSOUL." The 2lastAdam became a 3life-givingspirit.
46However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural ; then the spiritual.
The firstman is 4from the earth, a5earthy ; the secondman is from heaven.
As is the earthy, soalso are those who are earthy ; and as is the heavenly, 6soalso are those who are heavenly.
49Just as we have 7borne the image of the earthy, bwe 8will alsobear the image of the heavenly.
50Now I saythis, brethren, that 9flesh and bloodcannot10inherit the kingdom of God ; nor does cthe perishableinheritd11the imperishable.
51Behold, I tell you a 12mystery ; we will not allsleep, but we will all be 13changed,
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the lasttrumpet ; for 14the trumpet will sound, and 15the dead will be raisedeimperishable, and 16we will be changed.
For thisfperishablemustput on g17the imperishable, and this18mortal must put on immortality.
But whenthishperishable will have put on ithe imperishable, and thismortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "19DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory.
"20O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY ? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING ?"
