41The kingwent to 2Gibeon to sacrificethere, 3for that was the greathighplace ; Solomonoffered a thousandburntofferings on that altar.
54In Gibeon the LORDappeared to Solomon5in a dream at night ; and Godsaid, "6Askwhat you wish me to give you."
Then Solomonsaid, "7You have showngreatlovingkindness to Your servantDavid my father, 8according as he walkedbefore You in atruth and righteousness and uprightness of hearttoward You; and 9You have breserved for him thisgreatlovingkindness, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is thisday.
7"Now, O LORD my God, 10You have made Your servantking in place of my fatherDavid, yet 11I am but a littlechild ; 12I do not know how to go out or come in.
"13Your servant is in the midst of Your peoplewhich You have chosen, 14a greatpeoplewho are toomany to be numbered or counted.
"So 15give Your servantcan understandingheart to judge Your people16to discernbetweengood and evil. For who is able to judgethisdgreatpeople of Yours?"
10eIt was pleasing in the sight of the Lord that Solomon had askedthisthing.
11Godsaid to him, "Because you have askedthisthing and have 17not asked for yourself flonglife, nor have askedriches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself gdiscernment to understandjustice,
12behold, 18I have done according to your words. Behold, 19I have given you a wise and discerningheart, so that there has beenno one like you before you, nor shall one like you ariseafter you.
"20I have alsogiven you what you have not asked, both21riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kingslike you all your days.
"22If you walk in My ways, keeping My statutes and commandments, as your fatherDavidwalked, then I will 23prolong your days."
