1 Peter 2:16-25 (New American Standard)

View In My Bible
16 Act as 1free men, and ado not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as 2bondslaves of God. 17 3Honor all people, 4love the brotherhood, 5fear God, 6honor the bking. 18 7Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and 8gentle, but also to those who are cunreasonable. 19 For this finds dfavor, if for the sake of 9conscience toward God a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if 10when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds efavor with God.

Christ Is Our Example

21 For 11you have been called for this purpose, 12since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you 13an example for you to follow in His steps, 22 WHO 14COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH; 23 fand while being 15reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 and He Himself g16bore our sins in His body on the h17cross, so that we 18might die to isin and live to righteousness; for 19by His jwounds you were 20healed. 25 For you were 21continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the 22Shepherd and kGuardian of your souls.
