13
1Who is there to harm you if you provezealous for what is good?
14
But evenif you should 2suffer for the sake of righteousness, 3you are blessed. 4AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR INTIMIDATION, AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED,
15
but sanctify5Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready6to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the 7hope that is in you, yet8with gentleness and 9reverence;
16
and keep a 10goodconscienceso that in the thing in which11you are slandered, those who revile your goodbehavior in Christ will be put to shame.
17
For 12it is better, 13ifGod should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is rightratherthan for doing what is wrong.
18
For 14Christalsodied for sins15once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might 16bring us to God, having been put to death17in the flesh, but madealive18in the spirit;
19
in whichalso He went and madeproclamation to the spirits now in prison,
20
who once were disobedient, when the 19patience of God20kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of 21the ark, in which a few, that is, 22eight23persons, were broughtsafelythrough the water.
21
24Corresponding to that, baptismnowsaves you-25not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a 26goodconscience-through27the resurrection of JesusChrist,
22
28who is at the righthand of God, 29having gone into heaven, 30after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.
