The PhilistinesovertookSaul and his sons; and the Philistinesakilled3Jonathan and Abinadab and Malchi-shua the sons of Saul.
34The battlewentheavilyagainstSaul, and the archersbhit him; and he was badlywounded by the archers.
45Then Saulsaid to his armorbearer, "Draw your sword and pierce me through with it, otherwise6theseuncircumcised will come and pierce me through and makesport of me." But his armorbearerwould not, for he was greatlyafraid. 7So Saultook his sword and fell on it.
When his armorbearersaw that Saul was dead, he alsofell on his sword and died with him.
Thus Sauldied with his threesons, his armorbearer, and all his men on that daytogether.
When the men of Israelwho were on the otherside of the valley, with those who were beyond the Jordan, saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned the cities and fled; then the Philistinescame and lived in them.

They cutoff his head and strippedoff his weapons, and sent them dthroughout the land of the Philistines, 8to carry the good news9to the house of their idols and to the people.
They put his weapons in the etemple of 10Ashtaroth, and 11they fastened his body to the wall of 12Beth-shan.
