Then they aroseearly in the morning and worshipedbefore the LORD, and returnedagain to their house in 1Ramah. And Elkanahahadrelations with Hannah his wife, and 2the LORDremembered her.

It came about bin duetime, after Hannah had conceived, that she gavebirth to a son ; and she named him Samuel, saying, "3Because I have asked him of the LORD."

Then the manElkanah4went up with all his household to offer to the LORD the yearlysacrifice and pay his vow.

But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, "I will not go up until the child is weaned ; then I will 5bring him, that he may appearbefore the LORD and 6staythereforever ."
237Elkanah her husbandsaid to her, "Dowhat seems bestcto you. Remainuntil you have weaned him; only8may the LORDconfirm His word." So the womanremained and nursed her sonuntil she weaned him.

Now when she had weaned him, 9she took him up with her, with a three-year-oldbull and oneephah of flour and a jug of wine, and brought him to 10the house of the LORD in Shiloh, although the child was young.

Then 11they slaughtered the bull, and 12brought the boy to Eli.
26
She said, "Oh, my lord ! 13As your soullives, my lord, I am the woman who stoodherebeside you, praying to the LORD.
27
"14For thisboy I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petitionwhich I asked of Him.
28
"15So I have alsoddedicated him to the LORD ; as long as he lives he is ededicated to the LORD." And 16he worshiped the LORDthere.
