For our 1exhortation does not come from 2erroror3impurityoraby way of 4deceit;
45but just as we have been approved by God to be 6entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, 7not as pleasingmen, but God who b8examines our hearts.
For we nevercamecwith flatteringspeech, as you know, nor with 9a pretext for greed -10God is witness -
6nor did we 11seekglory from men, either from you or from others, even though as 12apostles of Christdwe might have easserted our authority.
But we fproved to be g13gentlehamong you, 14as a nursing mother itenderlycares for her ownchildren.
8Havingsofond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to 15impart to you not only the 16gospel of God but also our ownjlives, because you had becomekverydear to us.
For you recall, brethren, our 17labor and hardship, how 18workingnight and dayso as not to be a 19burden to any of you, we proclaimed to you the 20gospel of God.
You are witnesses, and so is 21God, 22howdevoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we lbehaved toward you mbelievers;
11just as you knowhow we were 23exhorting and encouraging and n24imploringeachone of you as 25a father would his ownchildren,
12so that you would 26walk in a mannerworthy of the God who 27calls you into His ownkingdom and 28glory.
For thisreason we alsoconstantly29thankGod that when you received the 30word of Godwhich you heard from us, you accepted it 31not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, 32whichalsoperforms its work in you who believe.
