1 Thessalonians 5:3-13 (New American Standard)

View In My Bible
3 While they are saying, "1Peace and safety!" then a2destruction bwill come upon them suddenly like 3labor pains upon a woman with child , and they will not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in 4darkness, that the day would overtake you c5like a thief; 5 for you are all 6sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of 7darkness; 6 so then let us not 8sleep as d9others do, but let us be alert and e10sober. 7 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get 11drunk at night. 8 But since 12we are of the day, let us 13be fsober, having put on the 14breastplate of 15faith and love, and as a 16helmet, the 17hope of salvation. 9 For God has not destined us for 18wrath, but for 19obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 20who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. 11 Therefore gencourage one another and 21build up one another, just as you also are doing.

12 But we request of you, brethren, that you h22appreciate those 23who diligently labor among you, and 24have charge over you in the Lord and give you iinstruction, 13 and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. 25Live in peace with one another.
