1Paul, 1an apostle of 2ChristJesus3according to the commandment of 4God our Savior, and of 5ChristJesus, who is our 6hope,
2
To 7Timothy, 8my truechild in the faith : 9Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and 10ChristJesus our Lord.
3
As I urged you aupon my departure for 11Macedonia, bremain on at 12Ephesusso that you may instructcertainmen not to 13teachstrangedoctrines,
4nor to cpayattention to 14myths and endless15genealogies, whichgiverise to mere 16speculationratherthan17furthering dthe administration of God which is by faith.
5
But the goal of our e18instruction is love19from a pureheart and a 20goodconscience and a sincere21faith.
6
For somemen, straying from thesethings, have turnedaside to 22fruitlessdiscussion,
723wanting to be 24teachers of the Law, even though they do not understandeitherwhat they are sayingor the matters aboutwhich they makeconfidentassertions.
8
But we know that 25the Law is good, ifoneuses it lawfully,
9realizing the fact that 26law is not made for a righteousperson, but for those who are lawless and 27rebellious, for the 28ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and 29profane, for those who kill their fathersormothers, for murderers10fand g30immoralmenhand 31homosexualsiand 32kidnappersjand 33liarskand 34perjurers, and whateverelse is contrary to 35soundteaching,
11according to 36the gloriousgospel of 37the blessedGod, with which I have been 38entrusted.
12
I thank39ChristJesus our Lord, who has 40strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, 41putting me into service,
13
even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a 42persecutor and a violentaggressor. Yet I was 43shownmercybecause44I actedignorantly in unbelief ;
14
and the 45grace of our Lord was morethanabundant, with the 46faith and love which are found in ChristJesus.
1547It is a trustworthystatement, deservingfullacceptance, that 48ChristJesuscame into the world to 49savesinners, among whom50I amforemost of all.
16Yet for thisreason I 51foundmercy, so that in me as the foremost, JesusChrist might 52demonstrate His perfectpatience as an example for thoselwho wouldbelieve in Him for eternallife.
17Now to the 53Kingmeternal, 54immortal, 55invisible, the 56onlyGod, 57be honor and glorynforever and ever. Amen.
18This58command I entrust to you, Timothy, 59my oson, in accordance with the 60propheciespreviouslymadeconcerning you, that by them you 61fight the goodfight,
19keeping62faith and a goodconscience, whichsome have rejected and sufferedshipwreck in regard to p63their faith.
20qAmong these are 64Hymenaeus and 65Alexander, whom I have 66handedover to Satan, so that they will be 67taught not to blaspheme.
