So Judahgathered together to 1seek help from the LORD ; they evencame from all the cities of Judah to seek the LORD.
Jehoshaphat's Prayer

Then Jehoshaphatstood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORDbefore the newcourt,

and he said, "O LORD, the God of our fathers, 2are You not God in the heavens ? And 3are You not ruleroverall the kingdoms of the nations ? Power and might are in Your hand so that noone can standagainst You.

"Did You not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of thislandbefore Your peopleIsrael and 4give it to the descendants of 5Abraham Your friendforever ?

"They have lived in it, and have built You a sanctuary there for Your name, saying,
9
'6Shouldevilcome upon us, the sword, or judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will standbeforethishouse and before You (for 7Your name is in thishouse ) and cry to You in our distress, and You will hear and deliver us.'
10"Nowbehold, 8the sons of Ammon and Moab and aMountSeir, 9whom You did not letIsraelinvade when they came out of the land of Egypt (they turnedaside from them and did not destroy them),
11see how they are rewarding us by 10coming to drive us out from Your possessionwhich You have given us as an inheritance.

"O our God, 11will You not judge them? For we are powerlessbeforethisgreatmultitude who are comingagainst us; nor do we knowwhat to do, but 12our eyes are on You."
13AllJudah was standingbefore the LORD, with their infants, their wives and their children.
Jahaziel Answers the Prayer

Then in the midst of the assembly13the Spirit of the LORDcame upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite of the sons of Asaph ;

and he said, "Listen, allJudah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and KingJehoshaphat : thussays the LORD to you, '14Do not fear or be dismayedbecause of thisgreatmultitude, for 15the battle is not yours but God's.
