and he said, "O LORD, the God of our fathers, 1are You not God in the heavens? And 2are You not ruleroverall the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand so that noone can standagainst You.

"Did You not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of thislandbefore* Your peopleIsrael and 3give it to the descendants of 4Abraham Your friendforever?

"They have lived in it, and have built You a sanctuary there for Your name, saying,

'5Shouldevilcome upon us, the sword, or judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will standbeforethishouse and before You (for 6Your name is in thishouse ) and cry to You in our distress, and You will hear and deliver us.'

"Nowbehold, 7the sons of Ammon and Moab and MountSeir, 8whom You did not letIsraelinvade when they came out of the land of Egypt (they turnedaside from them and did not destroy them),

see how they are rewarding us by 9coming to drive us out from Your possessionwhich You have given us as an inheritance.

"O our God, 10will You not judge them? For we are powerlessbeforethisgreatmultitude who are comingagainst us; nor do we knowwhat to do, but 11our eyes are on You."

AllJudah was standingbefore the LORD, with their infants, their wives and their children.
Jahaziel Answers the Prayer
14 Then in the midst of the assembly12the Spirit of the LORDcame upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite of the sons of Asaph;

and he said, "Listen, allJudah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and KingJehoshaphat: thussays the LORD to you, '13Do not fear or be dismayedbecause* of thisgreatmultitude, for 14the battle is not yours but God's.

'Tomorrowgodownagainst them. Behold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the valley in front of the wilderness of Jeruel.
