14havingeyesfull of adultery that nevercease from sin, 1enticing2unstablesouls, having a hearttrained in 3greed, 4accursedchildren;
15forsaking5the rightway, they have goneastray, having followed6the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, wholoved7the wages of unrighteousness;
but he received a rebuke for his owntransgression, 8for a mutedonkey, speaking with a voice of a man, restrained the madness of the prophet.
17These are 9springswithoutwater and mistsdriven by a storm, 10for whom the ablackdarkness has been reserved.
For speaking out 11arrogant words of 12vanity they 13entice by fleshlydesires, by 14sensuality, those who barely15escape from the ones who live in error,
19promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for 16by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved.
For if, after they have 17escaped the defilements of the world by 18the knowledge of the 19Lord and SaviorJesusChrist, they are again20entangled in them and are overcome, 21the last state has becomeworse for them than the first.
2122For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turnaway from 23the holycommandment24handed on to them.
22bIt has happened to them according to the trueproverb, "25A DOGRETURNS TO ITS OWNVOMIT," and, "A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire."
