10
But 1the day of the Lord2will comelike a thief, in which3the heavens4will passaway with a roar and the 5elements will be destroyed with intenseheat, and 6the earth and aits works will be bburned up.
11
Since allthesethings are to be destroyed in thisway, whatsort of people ought you to be in holyconduct and godliness,
127looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which8the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the 9elements will melt with intenseheat !
13
But according to His 10promise we are looking for 11newheavens and a newearth, 12in whichrighteousnessdwells.
1413Therefore, 14beloved, since you look for thesethings, be diligent to be 15found by Him in peace, 16spotless and blameless,
15
and regard the 17patience of our Lord as salvation ; just as also18our belovedbrotherPaul, 19according to the wisdomgiven him, wrote to you,
16
as also in all his letters, speaking in them of 20thesethings, 21in which are somethingshard to understand, which the untaught and 22unstabledistort, as they do also23the rest of the Scriptures, to their owndestruction.
17
You therefore, 24beloved, knowing this beforehand, 25be on your guardso that you are not carriedaway by 26the error of 27unprincipledmen and 28fall from your ownsteadfastness,
18
but grow in the grace and 29knowledge of our 30Lord and SaviorJesusChrist. 31To Him be the glory, bothnow and to the day of eternity. Amen.
