6throughwhich1the world at that time was 2destroyed, being flooded with water.
But by His word3the presentheavens and earth are being reserved for 4fire, kept for 5the day of judgment and destruction of ungodlymen.
But do not let thisone fact escape your notice, 6beloved, that with the Lordoneday is like a thousandyears, and 7a thousandyearslikeoneday.
98The Lord is not slow about His promise, as somecountslowness, but 9is patienttoward you, 10not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
But 11the day of the Lord12will comelike a thief, in which13the heavens14will passaway with a roar and the 15elements will be destroyed with intenseheat, and 16the earth and aits works will be bburned up.
Since allthesethings are to be destroyed in thisway, whatsort of people ought you to be in holyconduct and godliness,
1217looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which18the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the 19elements will melt with intenseheat!
But according to His 20promise we are looking for 21newheavens and a newearth, 22in whichrighteousnessdwells.
1423Therefore, 24beloved, since you look for thesethings, be diligent to be 25found by Him in peace, 26spotless and blameless,
and regard the 27patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also28our belovedbrotherPaul, 29according to the wisdomgiven him, wrote to you,
as also in all his letters, speaking in them of 30thesethings, 31in which are somethingshard to understand, which the untaught and 32unstabledistort, as they do also33the rest of the Scriptures, to their owndestruction.
