Then the LORDsent1Nathan to David. And 2he came to him and asaid, "There were twomen in onecity, the onerich and the otherpoor.
"The richmanhad a greatmanyflocks and herds.
"But the poor man had nothingexcept3onelittleewelambWhich he bought and nourished; And it grew up together with him and his children. It would eat of his bbread and drink of his cup and lie in his bosom, And was like a daughter to him.
"Now a travelercame to the richman, And he cwas unwilling to take from his own flock or his own herd, To prepare for the wayfarer who had come to him; Rather he took the poorman'sewelamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him."
Then David'sangerburnedgreatly against the man, and he said to Nathan, "As the LORDlives, surely the man who has donethisd4deserves to die.
"He must makerestitution for the lamb5fourfold, because he didthisthing and hadnocompassion."
7Nathan then said to David, "6You are the man! Thussays the LORDGod of Israel, '7It is I who anointed you kingoverIsrael and it is I who delivered you from the hand of Saul.
