Then the kingsaid to the woman, "Go to your house, and I will giveordersconcerning you."

The woman of Tekoasaid to the king, "O my lord, the king, 1the iniquity is on me and my father'shouse, but 2the king and his throne are guiltless."

So the kingsaid, "Whoever speaks to you, bring him to me, and he will not touch you anymore ."

Then she said, "Please let the kingremember the LORD your God, 3so that the avenger of blood will not continue to destroy, otherwise they will destroy my son." And he said, "4As the LORDlives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the ground."

Then the womansaid, "Please let your maidservantspeak a word to my lord the king." And he said, "Speak."

The womansaid, "5Why then have you plannedsuch a thingagainst the people of God ? For in speakingthisword the king is as onewho is guilty, in that the king does not bringback6his banishedone.
14
"For 7we will surelydie and are 8like waterspilled on the groundwhichcannot be gathered up again. Yet God does not take away life, but plansaways so that 9the banishedone will not be cast out from him.
15"Nowbthe reason I have come to speakthisword to my lord the king is that the people have made me afraid ; so your maidservantsaid, 'Let me nowspeak to the king, perhaps the king will perform the crequest of his maidservant.

'For the king will heardand deliver his maidservant from the ehand of the man who would destroyfboth me and my son from 10the inheritance of God.'
17
"Then your maidservantsaid, 'Please let the word of my lord the king be gcomforting, for as 11the angel of God, so is my lord the king to discerngood and evil. And may the LORD your God be with you.' "

Then the kinganswered and said to the woman, "Please do not hideanything from me that I am about to ask you." And the womansaid, "Let my lord the kingpleasespeak."
