So 1David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said, "How can the ark of the LORDcome to me?"
And David was unwilling to move the ark of the LORD into the city of David with him; but Davidtook it aside to the house of 2Obed-edom the Gittite.
Thus the ark of the LORDremained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittitethreemonths, and the LORD3blessedObed-edom and all his household.
Now it was toldKingDavid, saying, "The LORD has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, on account of the ark of God." 4Davidwent and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into 5the city of David with gladness.
And so it was, that when the 6bearers of the ark of the LORD had gonesixpaces, he sacrificed an 7ox and a fatling.
And 8David was dancingbefore the LORD with all his might, and David was a9wearing a linenephod.
So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the LORD with shouting and the sound of the trumpet.
