1 1Paul and 2Silvanus and 3Timothy, To the 4church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ : 2 5Grace to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 We ought always 6to give thanks to God for you, 7brethren, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged, and the 8love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater ; 4 therefore, we ourselves 9speak proudly of you among 10the churches of God for your aperseverance and faith 11in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure. 5 This is a 12plain indication of God's righteous judgment so that you will be 13considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering. 6 bFor after all 14it is only just cfor God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted dand to us as well e15when the Lord Jesus will be revealed 16from heaven 17with fHis mighty angels 18in flaming fire, 8 dealing out retribution to those who 19do not know God and to those who 20do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 These will pay the penalty of 21eternal destruction, 22away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He comes to be 23glorified gin His hsaints on that 24day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed -for our 25testimony to you was believed. 11 To this end also we 26pray for you always, that our God will i27count you worthy of your 28calling, and fulfill every desire for 29goodness and the 30work of faith with power, 12 so that the 31name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.New American Standard Bible Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation, La Habra, California.
