nor did we 1eat aanyone's bread bwithout paying for it, but with 2labor and hardship we kept 3working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you;
9
not because we do not have 4the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves 5as a model for you, so that you would cfollow our example.

For even 6when we were with you, we used to give you this order : 7if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
11
For we hear that some among you are 8leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like 9busybodies.
12
Now such persons we command and 10exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to 11work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread.
13
But as for you, 12brethren, 13do not grow weary of doing good.
14
If anyone does not obey our dinstruction e14in this letter, take special note of that person f15and do not associate with him, so that he will be 16put to shame.
15
Yet 17do not regard him as an enemy, but g18admonish him as a 19brother.
16
Now 20may the Lord of peace 21Himself continually grant you peace in every hcircumstance. 22The Lord be with you all !

iI, Paul, write this greeting 23with my own hand, and this is a distinguishing mark in every letter ; this is the way I write.

24The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
