2 To 1Timothy, my beloved a2son: 3Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 3 4I thank God, whom I 5serve with a 6clear conscience bthe way my forefathers did, 7as I constantly remember you in my cprayers night and day, 4 8longing to see you, 9even as I recall your tears, so that I may be filled with joy. 5 dFor I am mindful of the 10sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and 11your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well. 6 For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh 12the gift of God which is in you through 13the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a 14spirit of etimidity, but of power and love and fdiscipline. 8 Therefore 15do not be ashamed of the 16testimony of our Lord or of me 17His prisoner, but join with me in 18suffering for the 19gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has 20saved us and 21called us with a holy 22calling, 23not according to our works, but according to His own 24purpose and grace which was granted us in 25Christ Jesus from 26all eternity, 10 but 27now has been revealed by the 28appearing of our Savior 29Christ Jesus, who 30abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 31for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher. 12 For this reason I also suffer these things, but 32I am not ashamed; for I know 33whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to 34guard what I have entrusted to Him guntil 35that day.
