17 and their atalk will spread like bgangrene. Among them are 1Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 men who have gone astray from the truth saying that 2the resurrection has already taken place, and they upset 3the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, the 4firm foundation of God stands, having this 5seal, "6The Lord knows those who are His," and, "7Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness." 20 Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and 8some to honor and some to dishonor. 21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from 9these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, 10prepared for every good work. 22 Now 11flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, 12faith, love and peace, with those who 13call on the Lord 14from a pure heart. 23 But refuse foolish and ignorant 15speculations, knowing that they 16produce cquarrels. 24 17The Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, 18able to teach, patient when wronged, 25 19with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, 20if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to 21the knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from 22the snare of the devil, having been 23held captive dby him to do his will.
